Joel Guerrero, born in Maracaibo, Venezuela in 1977, obtained his undergraduate
degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the Polytechnic
University of the National Armed
Forces in Maracay, Venezuela,
after his undergraduate studies he obtained a specialization in Mechanical
Engineering (computational thermo-sciences) at the University
of Zulia, Venezuela.Shortly after he was awarded with a Master of
Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering at SupAero, Toulouse, with a thesis
entitled:“Efficient adaptation and mesh
refinement methods for unsteady flows”; since 2006 he has been enrolled in the
FLUBIO Marie-Curie project at the University of Genova as a long-stay trainee
(LST) developing the project “Numerical Simulation of the Unsteady Aerodynamics
of Flapping Flight” and "Higher-order Godunov methods for compressible
flows", which will lead to the achievement of a PhD (expected May 2009).
Joel’s research interests are related to high performance computing and
computational methods for modelling fluid dynamic problems (for incompressible
and compressible flows), including fluid-structure interaction and adaptive
mesh refinement.Joel has a vast
experience using commercial and open-source CFD codes, and has realized
computer codes for the analysis of the fluid dynamics around moving bodies by
the use of computational methods such as the overset composite grids/chimera
meshes and the immersed boundary technique.
